Minigrant
Recipients Announced: The Southtown Teachers' Center is pleased
to announce the recipients of our fall minigrants. Nearly $16,000
in mingrant applications were received, making this years decisions the
most difficult ever. Just over $5,000 in awards were made. We would like to thank all those
who applied. Unfortunately, there were several excellent
proposals that we were simply unable to fund. For a complete list

A
Call for Winter/Spring Courses: The
Southtown
Teachers' Center is accepting proposals for courses
and
instructors for our Winter/Spring Catalog. If you have an
idea for
a
course that you would like
to offer, click here
for a course proposal form. If you would like to re-offer a
course that was previously approved we would like to hear from you as
well. We would like to have ourl classes in place
before the Winter Recess, so please submit your course
proposals by Friday, December 19th. We look forward to hearing
from
you.
On-Line
Catalog of Library Resources: A catalog of the Southtown
Teachers' Center lending library of books and videos is now available
on-line. Simply click on the the Library link at the top of this
page. Please note that all of our video resources have a prefix
of "V" at the beginning of the title, so look for all of the videos
under the letter V. All of the book resources are listed
alphabetically by title. If you have a suggestion for books or
videos that should be added to our collection, we would be glad to hear
from you. We will try to honor all reasonable requests.
Special Education Library: The
Hamburg Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) maintains
a library of resources for teachers and parents of special needs
students. This libary is housed at the Southtown Teachers' Center
and the materials are available for loan. Click on the SEPTA
Library link at the top of this page to view a catalog of these
valuable resources.
National
Board Certification Information: The newly formed National Board Council
of New York maintains a website that provides all kinds of
useful information for New York State teachers who are considering or
are in the process of pursuing National Board Certification. In
addition, the Southtown Teachers' Center has made a committment to
support teachers as they go through the process of obtaining National
Board Certification. Click on the National Board Council
of New York link in the list to the left or contact the
Southtown Teachers' Center for more information.
STC E-News Briefs: E-News Briefs
are our single topic newsletters. Each E-News Brief focuses on an
individual
topic or resource that we believe will be of interest and value to you
as an
educator. E-News
Briefs are distributed electronically via email and posted on our STC
Bulletin boards as well as being
archived on our
website. Simply click on the link at the top of the page to
access the E-News
Briefs library.
